When using
manufactured
roof trusses
on your
new home
we recommend
using Truss/Wall
brackets
wherever
possible
to stabilize
the trusses.
Trusses
unlike field
cut rafters
have a tendency
to move
during the
changing
of the seasons.
This movement
will sometimes
cause drywall
cracks at
the top
of a wall
where it
meets the
ceiling.
To help
prevent
this cracking,
use some
type of
nailed bracket
between
the top
of the wall
and the
ceiling
joists.
These brackets
are most
important
on the interior
partition
walls, but
also should
be used
on the exterior
walls.
"Simpson"
manufacturing
provides
a variety
to use.
We recommend
a diamond
shaped bracket
that nails
to the two
top plates
of the wall
and straddles
the ceiling
joist. "Simpson"
products
are available
at most
lumber yards.
